Shinobu Blended Whisky

Shinobu Blended Whisky is a no age statement blend from the Shinobu Distillery in Niigata prefecture, produced by the distillery and released for global markets at 43%. As a blended whisky it brings together malt and grain spirit, and the component makeup of this particular release has not been disclosed beyond what appears on the label.

What is clear from the cask programme is the house's commitment to layered wood: Ex-Bourbon casks provide the gentle vanilla and cereal base typical of that maturation, Oloroso sherry casks add weight and dried-fruit depth, and a mizunara Japanese oak finish introduces the incense and sandalwood character that wood is prized for in Japanese whisky. The NAS designation keeps the blend flexible for consistency, while the three-cask sequence gives the liquid more complexity than a single wood-type release would allow.
