Description
Sergio Mottura works in Lazio, in central Italy, and is widely regarded as a leading interpreter of the native Grechetto grape. Poggio della Costa is made from Grechetto grown around Civitella d'Agliano, north of Rome, on volcanic tufa soils typical of the area. These free-draining volcanic soils and the region's warm days and cooler nights give fruit that ripens fully while keeping fresh acidity and a mineral thread. The estate farms organically, and this wine is made without oak, fermented and held to keep the grape's clarity and freshness. Grechetto has naturally thick skins and good structure, which give the wine grip and a slightly savoury edge without any barrel influence. The colour is bright straw, with white peach, pear and almond on the nose over a stony, herbal note. The palate is dry and full at fourteen per cent, with ripe orchard fruit balanced by a firm citrus line and a savoury, mineral close. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.

Additional information
Serve with grilled sea bream or roast chicken, where the wine's freshness and grip carry the dish. It also matches fresh goat cheese and green salads, and its citrus line makes it a good aperitif on its own.
