Description
Tenuta Selvadolce is the Ligurian coastal estate of Aris Blancardi, a former veterinarian who took over the family property above Bordighera and turned it fully to biodynamics. This red is made from Rossese di Campochiesa, a fragrant, light-bodied grape native to the Italian Riviera, and is farmed biodynamically and naturally, certified organic and suitable for vegans. The estate's terraces sit close to the sea, where steady coastal breezes and bright light keep the fruit fresh and lift its aromatics. After fermentation the wine is aged twenty-one months in barrel, an unusually long elevage for so delicate a grape. The extended time in wood and slow oxygen exchange settle and integrate the fine tannins and add a savoury frame, while the fruit and floral character stay to the fore. The colour is an alluring ruby. The nose shows fresh forest fruits, raspberry and blackberry, lifted by floral and herbal notes. The palate is light to medium bodied, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a fragrant, gently savoury finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, lightly chilled. It suits grilled pork, poultry and mushroom dishes.
