Description
Tenuta Selvadolce sits in the hills above Bordighera on the Ligurian coast, where Aris Blancardi farms the inherited family estate biodynamically among old olive trees and within sight of the Mediterranean. This red is made from Granazza, the local Ligurian name for Granaccia, a relative of Grenache long grown on the Italian Riviera. The wine is farmed biodynamically and made with natural methods, certified organic and suitable for vegans. The coastal, sun-exposed terraces and the sea breeze give the fruit ripeness while keeping it fresh and aromatic. After fermentation the wine spends twelve months split between cement tanks and barrels. Cement preserves the bright fruit and a clean, mineral line, while the time in wood rounds the texture without adding obvious oak. The colour is a bright ruby with violet reflections. The nose is perfumed, showing ripe red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and cherry, with floral violet notes and a spicy hint of dried herbs. The palate is light to medium bodied, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a fragrant, herb-edged finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, lightly chilled. It suits grilled pork, poultry and mushroom dishes.
