Description
Selma de Nin is a white blend made without denomination of origin in El Pla de Manlleu, in the Penedès, by Ester Nin of the biodynamic Nin Ortiz winery. It brings together Roussanne and Marsanne, the pair behind the great whites of the northern Rhône, with the Catalan Parellada and Chenin Blanc. The vines were planted just over a decade ago at around 750 metres in the village of La Sínia de Selma, and are farmed organically and biodynamically. The high altitude and its cool nights hold acidity and aromatic freshness in what is a ripe, full wine at 14.8 percent. It is aged for eight months in French oak, where slow oxygen exchange through the barrel and contact with the lees build texture, weight and a savoury, waxy complexity, while the wood contributes gentle spice without dominating. The Rhône varieties drive the character, giving stone fruit, honey and a beeswax note, with white flowers and a touch of vanilla from the oak. It pours deep straw and is warm, creamy and expansive on the palate, full bodied with real volume, the alcohol carried by the mountain acidity through a long, textured finish. Serve at 11 to 13 degrees in a full glass.

Additional information
The weight and creamy texture suit richer fish such as monkfish or turbot in a sauce, and roast chicken or pork. Its honeyed, waxy character also works with hard nutty cheeses. Serve it a little cooler than room temperature.
