Description
Séléné is the biodynamic project of Sylvère Trichard, who took over a small family estate in Beaujolais after training with respected growers in Savoie and Beaujolais. This wine is Pinot Noir, bottled as Vin de France, and made in the same low-intervention spirit as the rest of the range. Beaujolais and the wider area run across granite and clay soils, and Pinot Noir grown here in a cooler, semi-continental climate keeps its bright acidity and delicate aromatics. Farming is biodynamic, certified natural and vegan, with the vineyard worked as a living whole and treatments drawn from plant and mineral preparations. Vinification is natural, with native yeast and minimal handling, which keeps the wine's red fruit fresh and its floral lift intact. The colour is a vivid, light red. The nose is distinguished by strawberry and cherry over a subtle floral note of rose and white flowers. The palate is light bodied and supple, with juicy red fruit, fine tannin and crisp acidity that carries a clean, fresh finish. Serve at 14 to 15 degrees, lightly chilled. It pairs well with roast duck and poultry, and the earthy side suits mushroom dishes.
