A fifteen-year Reunion molasses rum from Savanna, soft and elegant at 43%, passion fruit and oak meeting dried fruit, cardamom and orange peel, the long finish turning herbal and minty with brown sugar and figs.
Description
Savanna in Reunion makes agricole, molasses and high-ester Grand Arome rum, and this Millenium 1999 is a molasses-based expression aged fifteen years in ex-bourbon oak. A long-matured tropical rum bottled at a gentle 43%, it shows the elegant, mellow side of the distillery rather than its funkier extremes.
The nose is bright and layered for an aged rum, passion fruit and oak with vanilla and cardamom, while the palate carries passion fruit, dried fruit, a faint mustiness and orange peel. The finish is long and shifts toward herbal and minty notes with dried fruit and brown sugar, drinkers picking up figs, cocoa and ginger over time. Described as deep, full and elegant, it wears its years with grace rather than weight. Bottled at 43%, it is a soft, refined aged Reunion rum that rewards slow sipping, well suited to anyone who likes maturity and balance over high proof and aggression.
