Description
Savanna has distilled on Reunion since 1870 and works in several registers, from agricole and molasses rum to its intensely funky Grand Arome. This Intense Traditionnel sits in the cane juice tradition, a 1999 vintage carrying roughly seven years in oak.
Made from fresh pressed cane juice rather than molasses and matured in ex-bourbon casks, it is bottled unsweetened and at full cask strength. At 65.7% it should show the grassy, peppery snap typical of cane juice rum framed by vanilla and toasted oak from the barrel, a dry and uncompromising island spirit that rewards a drop of water.
