Savanna Créol Straight 2019

This Savanna Créol Straight 2019 is an unaged blanc pressed from fresh sugar cane juice, bottled at a fierce full column strength of 67.2%. It comes from Savanna's agricole side rather than its molasses or Grand Arôme lines, and it pushes the vegetal, savoury character of cane juice to the limit.

Distilled low to keep its green congeners, then bottled at near-distillation proof, it is intense from the first sniff. The nose is all olive, floral lift, sugarcane and a streak of red fruit, while the palate turns to lime, brown sugar and a vegetal core. The finish runs herbal and medicinal with lemon and a faintly sweet edge. This is a bold, high-octane blanc for experienced palates rather than a gentle introduction, salty and herbal and uncompromising, a characterful pour for slow sipping with water or a powerful base for a serious cocktail.
