Description
Savanna Collection Metissage Fort Dauphin 2003 is a sixteen year old rum from Savanna on Reunion, bottled by the distillery at 44.8%. Savanna makes several families of rum, and this one is built on molasses rather than cane juice, so it reads softer and rounder than the distillery's agricole side.
Distilled on a column still and carrying an Armagnac cask influence, it focuses on gentle fruits, spice and soft wood, with caramel, vanilla, licorice and menthol over a mellow, slightly wine-tinged finish. At this strength it stays easy and elegant, offering the Savanna character in a gentler package than many of the distillery's more intense bottlings. It is an affordable, relaxed sipper with a pleasant aromatic spread of fruit and mild spice, made for unhurried evenings.
