Sau-Guata Gin

Sau-Guata is an Austrian gin made on a simple principle: back to the roots. The makers keep to classic, honest botanicals from selection through to bottling, building the gin around juniper, ginger, coriander, lemongrass, mandarin, angelica root and cinnamon. The result is natural and unfussy, a balanced blend of fresh, spicy and lightly sweet notes at an easygoing 41%.

The nose is fresh with citrus, mandarin to the fore, alongside a spicy lick of ginger and coriander. The palate is full and harmonious, juniper meeting ginger, cinnamon and a delicate mandarin sweetness, the finish long and refreshing with a fine spice that lingers gently. It makes a bright, citrus-led G&T, and goes happily into a Gin Sour. Serve alongside olives or smoked salmon.
