Santa Teresa 1796 is a Venezuelan solera rum, column distilled from molasses and married in a fractional blending system, offering soft caramel, vanilla and dried fruit over gentle wood and cinnamon, an easy, only lightly sweet sipper at 40%.

Description
Santa Teresa 1796 is a flagship from one of Venezuela's oldest producers, made in the smooth Spanish-style idiom from column-distilled molasses spirit and aged in a solera. That fractional blending system, borrowed from sherry production, continuously refreshes older casks with younger spirit, so the bottle carries a trace of well-aged rum within a younger majority, and the 1796 on the label is a heritage reference rather than an age statement.
The profile is classically soft and rounded, caramel, vanilla and dried fruit over gentle oak, with earthy cinnamon and a little smoke through the finish. Compared with the sweeter soleras of the region, it is noted for restraint, sweetened only lightly if at all, which lets the wood and fruit show without turning into a sugar bomb. At 40% it is a comfortable, balanced sipper or cigar companion, a well-priced and approachable route into the Spanish-style solera tradition.
