Sansibar Sansibar Selection

This Sansibar Selection is a single cask of Panamanian rum, the German bottler drawing on the country's well-known molasses spirit, much of it sourced from the Varela Hermanos stills. It carries five years in ex-bourbon oak and is presented at 47%.

Panama is associated with soft, vanilla-led rum, and ex-bourbon ageing in the house style usually adds caramel and light oak spice. As a single cask at a higher strength than the standard 40% bottlings, this should feel a touch more concentrated and lively. Added sugar is not stated, so expect a smooth but reasonably honest profile rather than a heavily sweetened one.
