Description
Sangsom Phraya Elements is a twelve year old Thai rum, distilled on column stills from molasses and bottled at 40% under the Phraya label. It represents the smoother, more polished side of Thai rum, aimed at easy sipping rather than raw, funky cane character.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it offers vanilla, chocolate and caramel with dried fruit and light wood, finishing on vanilla, gentle oak and a faintly bitter edge. While it smells sweet, the palate is drier than the nose suggests, with nutty and toasty touches keeping it from feeling cloying. At 40% it is soft and approachable, an unintimidating introduction to aged Thai rum that drinks comfortably on its own and suits relaxed, undemanding evenings.
