Sangarida makes this Godello in Bierzo from vines on slate and clay soils. The wine spends three months on its fine lees in stainless steel, which lends it a subtle texture behind flavours of green apple, white peach and lemon, with a saline, mineral edge.

Description
Sangarida is a small Bierzo producer working with Godello, the region's finest white grape, in the far north west of Castilla y Leon. The vineyards sit on slate and clay soils over decomposed schist, a cool inland pocket where marked shifts between warm days and cold nights slow ripening and hold on to acidity. That combination gives Godello its citrus drive and stony minerality. Fermentation and three months of ageing take place in stainless steel, with the wine kept on its fine lees. This lees contact releases mannoproteins that round out the mid palate and add a gentle texture without any oak, so the fruit and the mineral character stay in focus. The colour is a bright pale straw. The nose is clean and precise, with green apple, white peach, lemon and a saline, wet stone note. The palate is dry and taut, the fruit carried by fresh acidity to a clean, savoury finish. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees in a white wine glass.
