Sanddorn Andaloe Original is a fruit liqueur made by Waldemar Behn in Germany from sea buckthorn berries grown in northern regions, fruit known for its bright, tart flavour. The recipe leans into the natural acidity of the berry and balances it with a mild sweetness drawn out by gentle processing, bottled at a light 15%. In the fruit liqueur tradition the berry character sits on a neutral base, here pitched to keep the sea buckthorn fresh and lively rather than heavy.

The nose is fresh, fruity sea buckthorn with a hint of citrus and a light floral note, while the palate is refreshing and fruity, joining the berry's natural acidity to a mild sweetness and a subtle, slightly bitter finish, closing long on a gentle fruit acidity. In a drink it gives a tart fruit lift, a bright acidity that balances sweetness and an orange golden colour, the kind of sour edged liqueur that wakes up a long build. It is good on its own or over ice to show the fruit, and works in cocktails such as a sea buckthorn fizz or a fruity gin sour, and in spritz serves. Pour it chilled so the acidity stays crisp.
