A 27 year old Trinidad single cask from the Italian purist Samaroli, a column still rum aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at an elegant 45%, soft and aromatic with berries, vanilla, licorice and raisin.
Description
Samaroli Trinidad Rum 1991 is a single cask from the historic Italian house Samaroli, a bottler long admired for elegant, balanced rum released at deliberately reduced proof. Distilled on a column still in Trinidad in 1991 and given twenty-seven years of gentle continental ageing before bottling at 45%, it reflects the house philosophy of finesse over force.
The long, cool maturation has produced a soft, aromatic rum where the nose outshines even the palate. Berries, vanilla, licorice and raisin lead the aroma, refined and inviting, while the palate turns buttery with vanilla and licorice over the berry fruit. The finish brings spice, fruit and a gentle sweetness. At 45% it is poised and easy to nose, the column distillate and the decades of slow ageing combining for elegance rather than power. A graceful, well-mannered old Trinidad rum in the classic Samaroli mould, made for unhurried contemplation.
