A thirty year old single cask Grenada rum bottled by Italy’s Samaroli, distilled 1993 from molasses and aged in ex-bourbon oak at a natural 52%, leather and coconut on the nose ahead of milk chocolate, butterscotch and allspice.
Description
Samaroli Rum 1993 is a single cask from Grenada bottled by Samaroli, the historic Italian house known for elegant, balanced selections at deliberately measured proof. Distilled in 1993 and aged thirty years, it is a deeply mature molasses rum, and in the Samaroli tradition it is left unsweetened and continental in feel, the bottler favouring poise and integration over sheer power.
Three decades in ex-bourbon oak have built a rich, dessert-leaning profile without tipping into heaviness. The nose offers cappuccino, almond, coconut and leather, while the palate moves through milk chocolate, butterscotch, allspice and a firm woody frame. Bottled at a natural 52%, strong but not cask-proof in spirit, it shows the balance the house is prized for, a long-aged single cask poured for grace and depth rather than impact, an old Grenadian rum read through a purist Italian sensibility.
