A cask strength single cask Hampden, distilled in 1993 and bottled at 29 years old and 52% by Samaroli, an unsweetened, ex-bourbon-aged Trelawny pot still rum from the reference point for high-ester Jamaican funk.
Description
Samaroli Hampden Rum 1993 is a single cask Jamaican rum distilled at Hampden in Trelawny in 1993 and bottled at 29 years old by Samaroli, the historic Italian purist bottler. Hampden is the reference point for high-ester Jamaican funk, 100% pot still, so expect ripe banana, pineapple, overripe mango and the acetone and glue notes that define the estate.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened at 52%, this is a long-aged Hampden in Samaroli's elegant, balanced idiom. Nearly three decades of maturation, much of it gentler continental ageing, rounds the estate's explosive esters with deep oak, dried fruit and spice while keeping the signature funk intact.
