A continental aged Guyanese single cask from Samaroli, distilled in 1998 at Demerara Distillers and bottled at 19 years from an ex-bourbon barrel, reduced to a measured 49.5% in the house purist style.
Description
Samaroli is a historic Italian bottler known for elegant, balanced single casks chosen with a purist eye, and this 1998 Demerara is squarely in that tradition. Distilled at Demerara Distillers in Guyana, it was matured in Europe and bottled at 19 years from a single ex-bourbon cask, unsweetened and held back to a poised 49.5%.
Guyanese rum is molasses based and shaped by the heritage stills DDL keeps running at Diamond, with the precise marque here unstated. Expect the woody, brown sugar and dark fruit register typical of aged Demerara, the longer European maturation tending to keep things gentler and more composed than a tropically aged equivalent of the same age.
