Sakurao 4 Years Old 2019 is a single cask, cask strength single malt from Sakurao Brewery & Distillery in Hiroshima, one of Japan's newer distilleries, opened in 2017 on the coast near Miyajima. Bottled in 2023 at 62.3% for an event market, it represents a deliberately transparent look at the distillery's young make.
Matured in a single Ex-Bourbon barrel, the spirit shows the clean cereal, vanilla sweetness and light wood spice typical of first-fill American oak at this age. The distillery's coastal Hiroshima setting tends to lend a subtle saline freshness to its character, and the cask strength bottling delivers that sea-influenced profile with directness and energy.
