Description
Saint James Single Cask 2001 is a single cask Martinique rhum agricole from Saint James, a distillery working since 1765 and among the largest on the island. Drawn from one cask of the 2001 vintage and aged roughly fourteen years, it sits well into the XO bracket of the AOC, with tropical ageing adding maturity beyond the years.
Distilled from fresh sugar cane juice on a creole column and matured in ex-bourbon oak, then bottled unsweetened at 43.1%, an aged Saint James of this kind should show the grassy agricole core married to vanilla, oak spice and a drier, more savoury profile than sweet molasses rum. A single cask for those who like Saint James in vintage form.
