An organic blanc from Saint James, the historic Martinique house, bottled at a cask-strength 51.5%, leading on fresh sugarcane, citrus and grass with floral lift and a peppery, vegetal finish, dry and made for Ti’ Punch.
Description
Saint James has been distilling on Martinique since 1765 and is among the island's largest houses, instantly known by its squared bottle. This La Salle blanc is an organic, single-estate 2023 release carrying the Martinique AOC, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice with no added sugar.
In the house creole-column style, run low to hold the green congeners, it shows fresh sugarcane, citrus and grass on the nose with a light floral edge. The palate is vegetal and peppery with a gently oily texture, drying through a grassy, sugarcane finish. At 51.5% it has real presence without losing its freshness, and the organic, single-plot framing adds terroir interest. A clean, food-friendly white agricole built for Ti' Punch or neat sipping, dry and snappy in the way the style demands rather than sweet.
