An aged Martinique agricole of finesse, fruity and floral with orange peel, cane and cinnamon over elegant oak and a cognac like polish, eighteen years old, dry and unsweetened at a measured 42%.
Description
J. Bally is a historic Martinique name now made at Saint James, one of the largest and oldest agricole houses on the island, and this Art Deco edition carries eighteen years of age. Distilled from fresh cane juice on a creole column and aged under the AOC framework that forbids added sugar, it shows what long tropical maturation does to a cane spirit, where high evaporation means eighteen years reads with real depth.
The grassy agricole core is still there but folded into fruity, floral and citrus notes, orange peel and grapefruit, sugar cane and a fine cinnamon spice, all carried on elegant oak. A cognac cask influence lends a dry, polished, almost brandy like character, and the finish runs long with citrus, coffee and gentle wood. This is an agricole that trades brute strength for finesse, relaxed and balanced at 42% rather than fierce, and it stays unsweetened and dry throughout. A rewarding slow sipper for drinkers who appreciate aged agricole or lightly woody, refined rum.
