Grand Arome is Savanna's intensely aromatic style, made from molasses with long fermentation to build a heavy load of fruity esters, and it sits apart from the distillery's cane juice agricole and its plainer traditional rum. This Saint Eloi Spirits single cask carries eleven years behind it but lands at a soft 43%, a deliberately easy reading of a style that is often bottled at full strength.

Ageing in ex bourbon rounds the funk without smothering it, so the result feels rich and silky rather than sharp. Ripe pineapple and passion fruit lead, backed by dried fruit, a little roasted coffee and a whisper of anise, with the estery sweetness reading as fruit rather than added sugar. It makes a very drinkable sipper for those who want the Grand Arome character, all that tropical fruit and gentle funk, without the heat of the cask strength editions.
