S.B.S 2002

S.B.S 2002 is a Single Barrel Selection from Denmark's 1423, a detail driven, transparent bottler working in the cask strength, unsweetened, non chill filtered tradition. This is a Panamanian molasses rum distilled on a column still in 2002, given 21 years in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at a near full proof 59% from one barrel.

The extra strength lifts the usual soft Panamanian profile without losing its comfort. The nose offers vanilla, caramel and wood, the palate echoes vanilla, caramel and cedar with a clear oak presence, and the finish brings caramel, citrus, light tropical fruit and spice. The alcohol shows at first then settles, leaving cedar, vanilla and caramel in command. It keeps the mellow Panama character but adds welcome grip and length thanks to the age and proof. A well balanced, fairly priced full proof Panamanian for drinkers who like smooth ron with more intensity.
