Description
This Braud & Quennesson blanc is a Martinique agricole bottled by S.A Usine du Marin from spirit distilled at the Distillerie du Simon, made from fresh sugarcane juice on a creole column. With AOC Martinique status and bottled high at 59.2%, this 2022 is an unaged white with proof to spare, unsweetened and built for impact.
The creole column distils low to keep the vegetal cane congeners, so the nose is grassy and floral with sugarcane, citrus and anise. The palate stays vegetal and cane-forward with citrus and a licorice thread, drinkers also finding daisy florals, nut, salt and pepper, the finish dry, vegetal and long on cane and citrus. It is fresh, spicy and dry, the snap of a good blanc carried at full strength. A characterful white best in a dry Ti' Punch where the cane and spice drive the drink, or sipped with water.
