Rummieclub Colourful White

Rummieclub was a Dutch bottling outfit with a clear feel for rum, and this Colourful White is one of its single cask whites, bottled at 40% with no age statement. It belongs to the growing field of European curated whites, and even though the project has since wound down, this release shows the kind of knowing selection that earned the name a quiet following.

The nose is buttery, mild and round with a lift of citrus, while the palate stays light, supple and smooth with a gentle sweetness and a thread of funk underneath. It drinks pleasantly neat, a nice surprise for a white, and is light enough to disappear cleanly into a mix. At 40% it errs on the gentle side, and admirers note its heftier overproof sibling as the bolder showing, but as an approachable, funky white this is a likeable, well made pour.
