A 16 year old Foursquare bottled for Denmark by Rum Nation, dry and savoury with honey, spice and oily oak over the distillery’s clean backbone, unsweetened at cask strength 56 percent from 2008.
Description
Rum Nation, the well-regarded Italian house, released this Foursquare in its Rare Rums tier, the dry, undosed end of its range, in a bottling reserved for the Danish market. Foursquare is the benchmark Barbados distillery, run by Richard Seale on a double-retort pot and twin-column Coffey with a strict no-additives stance. This Small Batch bottling takes 2008 distillate to 16 years, unsweetened and at a robust 56 percent.
Matured from molasses in ex-bourbon oak, it shows the integrity of aged Foursquare: fresh, fruity and spiced wood on the nose, then honey, spice and an oily texture across the palate, finishing oily and woody with dried fruit and caramel. The character is balanced and savoury rather than sweet, the proof carrying real weight while staying drinkable. A characterful, authentic Bajan for those who want their Foursquare full strength and free of additives.
