Description
Rum Nation Dominicana 2024 comes from the well regarded Italian house known for regional releases and a signature two stage tropical and European ageing. This is a Dominican molasses rum carrying an eight year age statement and ex-bourbon maturation, sitting in the soft, amber, caramel led Dominican mould.
The spirit is light and the appeal is comfort over depth. The nose offers dried fruit, burnt sugar and a tropical lift, the palate runs to caramel, burnt sugar, leather and a roasted note, and the finish stays sweet with spice, wood and tropical fruit. Rum Nation's softer Spanish style bottlings can carry some dosage, and this reads gently sweet though more honest and less doctored than some peers in the style. An undemanding, dessert leaning everyday Dominican, easy at just under 41% and happy neat after dinner.
