Rum Nation Decanter 18 Years

Rum Nation Decanter 18 Years is a Panamanian style release from Fabio Rossi's Italian house, founded in 1999 and known for touring drinkers through the rum world by region. It follows the bottler's two stage signature, tropical ageing at origin then a slower European finish, here built on light, column distilled molasses spirit matured in ex bourbon oak and presented in a decorative decanter at 40%.

Eighteen years of cask time show as vanilla, caramel, honey, chocolate and coconut with light fruit and gentle oak spice, all wrapped in the soft, smooth texture that defines the Spanish leaning Panama school. This is a sweet, mellow and very approachable pour rather than a punchy or complex one, and it is honest to read it that way, rounded and dessert leaning rather than dry. It sits comfortably with Botucal style fans, easy neat or with cola, while drinkers chasing intensity will find it deliberately soft.
