Description
This is a 2011 vintage Fijian rum distilled at the Fiji Rum & Co distillery and bottled by Maison Ferrand under its Plantation, now Planteray, label for the German retailer delicando. Fiji has become a sought-after origin for its tropical, fruit-forward pot and column rums, and this release adds a Marsala cask finish on top of twelve years of age.
Maison Ferrand double-ages its rums in France and openly uses dosage, so this is best read as a rounded, lightly sweetened style rather than a bone-dry one. The Marsala finish typically lends fortified-wine notes of dried fig, raisin and nutty oak, while the 51.7% strength keeps the fruit-driven Fijian core lively and well defined.
