A distillery bottling of Royal Brackla, a 12 year old and bottled at 40%. Royal Brackla was first built in 1812 in the Highlands on the estate of Cawdor Castle, and it was crowned the first Royal distillery by William IV in 1833. It is one of only three distilleries to carry the Royal name in Scotch.

Double distilled in tall copper pot stills with upward angled lyne arms, giving the refined, lightly spiced make at its heart. A sherry cask shaped it, true to the Royal Brackla house style. By this age the orchard fruit rounds into honey and a fuller spice. Years in oak round the spirit, the fruit and spice deepening with age. Brackla earned the prefix Royal long before most distilleries had a brand at all. The malt is prized by blenders for its fragrant, fruity lift. Sherry and wine casks suit the elegant spirit, adding fruit and depth.

At an easy 40% it is gentle. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and the refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with orchard fruit and a gentle spice. The mouthfeel is round, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is a polished, fruity Highland whisky.
