Description
From The Single Cask Ltd comes this Royal Brackla, a 12 year old from 2009, drawn from cask 304160 and bottled at 58.1%. 232 bottles in all. Royal Brackla was established in 1812 in the Highlands on the estate of Cawdor Castle; it was crowned the first Royal distillery by William IV in 1833. The house style leans on sherry wood, fruity and elegant.
Double distilled in tall copper pot stills with upward angled lyne arms, giving the refined, lightly spiced make at its heart. An American oak cask shaped it, flattering the elegant, fruity make. Mid age brings a fuller honey and a deeper dried fruit note. A gentle, unhurried maturation suits the refined Royal Brackla character. It is one of only three distilleries permitted to carry the Royal name in Scotch. Queen Victoria renewed the royal warrant in 1838, confirming its regal standing. The house style leans on sherry wood, building a fruity, dried fruit character.
At cask strength 58.1% it is full bodied. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under citrus and a floral lift. It is refined and deep, the fruit and oak well matched. Dried fruit and oak spice see out a long finish. This is an elegant Highland malt of real depth.
