Description
Bottled by James Eadie, this Royal Brackla matured to 11 year old, drawn from cask 303570 and bottled at 52.4%. A release of 640 bottles. Established in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate near Nairn, Royal Brackla is the King's Own Whisky. Water for the make is drawn from the Cawdor Burn.
It was distilled on Cawdor Burn water in tall copper stills, for the fruity, elegant spirit Royal Brackla is known for. A sherry cask shaped it, true to the Royal Brackla house style. At this age the spirit is fresh and fruity, the orchard fruit and citrus bright. The unpeated make lets the wood and the fruit speak without smoke. Captain William Fraser, an army man returned from India, built the distillery in 1812. Water for the make is drawn from the Cawdor Burn in the northern Highlands. For generations the malt was a backbone of the Dewar's blends before its single malt revival.
At a natural 52.4% it is full and fruity. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and green apple and a fragrant lift sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. It is clean and elegant, the fragrant spirit shining through. It finishes clean, elegant and fruity. This is a Highland malt with a royal past.
