Description
Rotkappchen is one of Germany's best known sparkling houses, and this Fruchtsecco is a fruit-flavoured Secco rather than a pure varietal wine, blending a light base wine with blackcurrant. It is a semi-sparkling drink, made in stainless steel and released young to keep the fruit vivid and the carbonation soft. The style is deliberately sweet and approachable, with a gentle bead rather than a firm mousse.
The colour is a deep berry red with a soft, lively fizz. The nose is dominated by blackcurrant, with darker berry and red fruit behind it, and the palate stays sweet and juicy, with cassis and berry flavour carried on a light sparkle. The finish is soft and fruity. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass or flute. It works as a fruity aperitif, over ice on a warm evening, or alongside berry puddings and light cakes.
