Description
From Speciality Drinks Ltd comes this Rosebank, a 21 year old Lowland malt, and bottled at 52.6%. A release of 613 bottles. Rosebank, opened in 1840 at Falkirk, on the Lowland canal side, was closed in 1993 and long mourned. Triple distillation and worm tub condensers, a pairing unique to Rosebank, gave the malt its elegant yet weighty style.
Drawn off after a third distillation and condensed slowly in worm tubs, the make took the Rosebank style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. Around two decades the malt gains a waxy weight over its floral core. Patient maturation turns the grassy new make towards marzipan and soft tropical fruit. Few lost distilleries are mourned, or bottled, as devotedly as Rosebank. Laid down before 1993, this is spirit from a distillery silent for three decades. History on the site runs back to the Stark brothers in 1798, before Rankine's 1840 distillery.
At a full 52.6% it is intense yet elegant. Honeysuckle and lemon zest meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft citrus and orchard fruit sit behind the sweetness. A delicate, fruity finish lingers long. This is a revered triple distilled malt from a distillery silent for thirty years.
