Description
A Rosebank single malt, selected and bottled by The Clydesdale Original matured to 17 year old, from 1991, drawn from cask 0192/631 and bottled at 56.3%. 324 bottles in all. The Lowland Rosebank, established in 1840 at Falkirk, on the Lowland canal side, was closed in 1993 and long mourned. The 108 foot chimney stood over Falkirk through the long silent years.
Drawn off after a third distillation and condensed slowly in worm tubs, the make took the Rosebank style. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, the classic wood for Rosebank. Mid age brings a fuller honey and a deeper tropical note to the florals. Worm tub condensers slow the copper contact, lending a fuller body to the light Lowland spirit. History on the site runs back to the Stark brothers in 1798, before Rankine's 1840 distillery. The closed era stock is finite, and every bottle drawn is one fewer left. Rosebank stood on the Forth and Clyde Canal, which once carried its casks to market.
Undiluted at 56.3%, it is layered. A delicate floral, waxy depth sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is clean and elegant, the grassy spirit shining through. Lemon, honey and oak draw out the close. This is a rare survivor of the 1993 closure.
