Description
This is a Rosebank single malt, chosen and bottled by Lands of Scotland, an 11 year old from 1989, drawn from cask 786 and bottled at 43%. Rosebank was first established in 1840 in Camelon near Falkirk, in the Lowlands and closed in 1993. Triple distillation and worm tub condensers, a pairing unique to Rosebank, gave the malt its elegant yet weighty style.
Triple distilled through three pot stills and condensed in wooden worm tubs, the make took the Rosebank style. An American oak cask shaped it, flattering the floral, ester rich make. Younger here, it keeps a crisp, green freshness over light honey. Refill oak flatters Rosebank, holding back its sweetness so the florals and citrus lead. Ian Macleod rescued the distillery, the trademark and the last casks, reopening it in 2023. The first new make ran on the 5th of June 2023, almost thirty years to the day after closure.
At 43% it is soft, grassy and honeyed. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with lime, pear and a herbal note. The texture is soft and rounded, the florals lifted by honey. A long, honeyed finish carries a grassy note. This is a vanishing dram from Scotland's most mourned Lowland distillery.
