Ron Roble Viejo Extra Anejo is a Venezuelan Spanish-style rum from Licorero del Centro, bottled by Rones del Caribe and carrying a ten year age statement. Made from molasses on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon wood, it sits in the country's smooth, dessert leaning tradition, where the light spirit gives way to barrel driven softness and gentle sweetness.

The nose offers vanilla, wood, a caramelised note and spice, the palate is sweet with caramelised sugar, wood and spice, and the finish turns hot and dry with barrel and black pepper. It drinks soft and approachable with light fruit over oak, lighter and a touch drier than the sweetest of the style, though clearly easygoing. The honest framing is a pleasant, simple everyday sipper rather than a showpiece, comfortable neat for a casual glass or stretched out as a mixer, agreeable without asking much of the drinker.
