A light Cuban white from Cuba Ron under the Cubay name, column-distilled from molasses in the crisp ron ligero style, fresh and floral with vanilla, fruit and citrus, a clean and creamy thirty eight percent base for daiquiris and highballs.
Description
Ron Cubay Carta Blanca comes from Cuba Ron and sits squarely in the island's classic light white tradition, the ron ligero blueprint of clean, neutral-leaning spirit built to disappear into a cocktail. Cuba pioneered this charcoal-filtered, blender-led style, and this is a faithful, affordable example of it.
Distilled from molasses on a column still, it is fresh and crisp with vanilla, floral and fruity notes on the nose and a creamy, citrus-touched palate, before a slightly sharp, alcoholic finish typical of young white rum. It earns its keep behind the bar, where its freshness and fruit make it a natural for daiquiris and similar short, column-still drinks, and where it reads cleaner and smoother than many comparable whites. As a sipper it is light and unassuming, but as a mixer it does exactly what is asked of it.
