Ron Ron Rumlikör wears its category on the label: this is a Caribbean rum liqueur, sweetened and bottled at a gentle 34%, not a traditional aged rum. It builds its appeal around coffee and chocolate, with a mild, almost saddle-leather note on the nose adding a little intrigue.

The palate is thick and syrupy, sweet with vanilla and a clear run of coffee, and the finish keeps the coffee and chocolate going over that syrupy body. It is smooth and very easy to drink, though even those who enjoy it concede it is too sweet to be a regular pour. Taken honestly as a dessert liqueur, it shines: serve it chilled, over ice, poured across vanilla ice cream or stirred into an espresso-based cocktail. As a sweet after-dinner indulgence it satisfies, but it should not be mistaken for a dry sipping rum.
