Ron King Managua Gran Reserva is a Nicaraguan ron from Compania Licorera, made in the Spanish style from molasses on a column still. Nicaraguan rum tends toward a cleaner, slightly more spirit-forward profile than its sweeter neighbours.

With a stated seven years in ex-bourbon oak, this Gran Reserva should show the vanilla and soft caramel typical of bourbon-cask ageing over a light base. At 40% it sits firmly in the smooth, after-dinner tier. Added sugar is not disclosed for this release, so expect an approachable pour that leans on barrel-derived sweetness rather than a heavy dosage.
