Ron Dulce Amazona

Ron Dulce Amazona is a sweet, rum based liqueur from Spain, built on a column still molasses spirit and bottled at a deceptively high 53%. Despite that strength on paper it drinks much softer, the heavy sweetness masking the alcohol, and it is best understood honestly as a dessert liqueur rather than a dry aged sipping rum.

The profile is unapologetically sweet and indulgent: the nose offers dark chocolate, caramel, coffee and a hint of banana, while the palate leans into sugar, caramel and coffee with the alcohol giving a little depth behind the sweetness. The finish stays sweet with coffee and dark chocolate. This is a cocoa and coffee syrup of a drink, fun for those who enjoy very sweet, after dinner pours, and well suited as a dessert serve or stirred into coffee. Drinkers chasing classic, dry molasses rum character will find little of it here, but as a sweet treat it does its job.
