A Panama ron from a 2008 vintage at 44.7%, caramel, dried fruit and vanilla over a woody, roasted base, column distilled from molasses in ex-bourbon, sixteen years of soft, naturally sweet maturation.
Description
This Companero vintage comes from Distillery Hacienda San Isidro in Panama, bottled by Ron Dos Mares and drawn from a 2008 cask laid down for sixteen years. It works in the soft, mellow Panama idiom while sitting at a slightly higher strength than the regional norm, giving it a little more definition.
Column distilled from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon, then bottled at 44.7%, it is led by caramel, vanilla and dried fruit with a light roasted edge on the nose. The palate reads round and naturally sweet with wood, dried fruit and caramel, and the finish brings more roasted oak and raisin. The character is gentle and dessert-leaning in the Panama style, with the years showing as warm, dried fruit depth and the modest extra proof adding grip. A comfortable older Panama sipper for fans of soft, oaky ron.
