A Panamanian solera blend from Ron Cueva 1501, built in a Sistema 33 solera and bottled at a soft 40%, a smooth, mellow Spanish-style ron where the oldest component reaches back decades.
Description
Ron Cueva 1501 Sistema 33 Solera is a Panamanian molasses rum built using a solera, a fractional-blending system where older and younger rums marry over time so each bottle is mostly young spirit carrying a trace of much older stock. The 33 refers to the oldest component in the system, not an age for the bottle as a whole.
Bottled at a soft 40%, it should drink in the smooth Panama style of vanilla, caramel and mellow oak, rounded and easy by design. The added-sugar status is not recorded, but solera-built Spanish-style rons typically aim for a gentle, dessert-leaning smoothness, so this is best read as an after-dinner sipper rather than a dry one.
