A Guatemalan Botran finished in sherry and port casks, soft at 40% with sour cherry, cedar and barrel on the nose, then caramel, vanilla and blackberry over a wine edged finish.
Description
Ron Botran Roajú is a Guatemalan molasses rum from Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, the group behind the country's best known ron. This first batch is finished in a mix of casks including sherry and port, building on the soft, smooth Guatemalan style with extra cask driven fruit, and bottled at a gentle 40%.
The wine casks shape the profile. The nose leads with sour cherry, cedar wood and barrel over ripe fruit, the palate brings caramel, vanilla, blackberry and butterscotch, and the finish carries a clear wine note. There is cinnamon, clove and licorice in the mix, giving it a touch more character than a plain caramel led ron, though it stays soft and approachable without added intensity. Sugar is not disclosed and it reads gently sweet. An easy, cask accented Guatemalan for relaxed evening sipping rather than a powerful or challenging pour.
