Description
Romdeluxe released this as Uitvlugt No. 19 in its Wild Series, a single cask from the 1990 vintage and thirty years old. The MPM marque is a Port Mourant style recipe run on the Uitvlugt still, so it carries the dark, oily pot character that defines PM, here matured to a dry profile.
Molasses based, finished in port and matured to a dark, woody style, it shows that heaviness throughout. The nose mixes wood, citrus, mineral and spice, the palate brings anise, vanilla and dried fruit over timber, and the finish turns peppery and tannic with liquorice, tobacco, tea and honey. It needs time to rest and open. At 51.1 percent it carries thirty years of dark, layered character at a strength that stays manageable, a slow sipping Demerara for fans of the Port Mourant style.
