Description
RomDeluxe is the Danish bottler known for full proof single casks, and this Collectors Series release draws an eight year old Travellers distillate from Belize, vintage 2014, bottled at a robust 60% from one ex-bourbon barrel. Travellers usually shows a citric, fruity side, but this cask pulls in a darker, more roasted direction.
The spirit is molasses based and aged in ex-bourbon oak under warm conditions, which deepens both colour and intensity. Aroma and palate run to roasted wood, dark chocolate, raisin and a touch of coconut, while the finish stays warm with caramel and a wisp of smoke. The strength is well integrated for the proof, and a little rest in the glass releases more, giving a dry yet fruity character that rewards patient sipping rather than mixing.
