A cask strength 13 Year Old Trinidad pot still rum of menthol, rubber and smoke over dark berries, cherry, oak and baking spice, this unsweetened single cask from RomDeluxe lands dry and full proof at 60.8%.
Description
RomDeluxe is a Danish bottler best known for high-ester funk bombs, and its Collectors Series turns to Ten Cane, a short-lived Trinidad distillery whose pot still spirit appeals to drier-rum drinkers. This single cask from the 2008 vintage was matured 13 years and bottled unsweetened at 60.8%, a Trinidad side-path away from the island's lighter Spanish-style norm.
Pot still distillation gives it weight, and tropical ageing in a single ex-bourbon cask adds firm oak and depth. The aroma carries oak, red fruit, rubber and spice, the palate turns woody and smoky with dark chocolate and cherry, and the finish stays oaky, spicy and warm with a tannic grip. Menthol, rubber and a wisp of tar lean it toward a drier, Caroni-adjacent character, while the dark berries and baking spice keep it rounded. Bottled at cask strength without additives, it offers genuine depth and value for experienced palates.
